Muskoka’s Local Lawn Care Company

Lawn Care Frequently Asked Questions

What payment options do you have?

We make it as simple for you as possible. Once the work is completed, we will email you the invoice. The invoice can be paid right from your computer or mobile device via credit card. We also accept e-transfer if you prefer.

Do I have to be at home at the time of the service?

No. Most of our lawns are serviced during normal working hours. We regularly maintain cottage properties so they are looking their best before you arrive. Your property care technician will complete the work and you will be emailed the invoice, with before and after photos if requested.

Should I use mulch in my gardens?

We think so! Mulch is used to retain moisture in the soil, suppress weeds, keep the soil cool, prevent frost heaving in winter and make the garden bed look more attractive. Organic mulches also help improve the soils structure, drainage and nutrient-holding capacity as they decompose.

How often should my lawn be cut?

We recommend our weekly mowing service. Cutting the grass every 7 days during the growing season will keep your lawn looking in tip-top shape. This will allow you to follow the 1/3 cut rule, reduce clipping length and clumping.

What height will you cut my lawn?

The general rule you should follow is to not cut more than one third of the blade of grass off at any one time. Weekly cutting will satisfy that requirement and keep your grass looking its best. One of the most common mistakes people make when cutting their grass is to cut it too low. The kinds of grasses found on Muskoka lawns are meant to be cut at heights of 2.5-3.5 inches tall. If they are routinely cut lower than that they will not be as healthy and may begin to thin out and die.

What should I do with the lawn clippings?

We like to encourage our customers to allow the grass clippings to remain on the lawn. The grass blades will not contribute to thatch because they will decompose in about six weeks, adding about 5% more fertilizer to the soil! With the restrictions on yard waste disposal and the benefits your lawn will receive, allowing the grass clippings to stay on the lawn is your best option.
